Austen on ebooks, Courtesy of Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble is offering a free download of their eReader, which will give you access to 700,000 ebook titles – most seem to be on sale for $9.99.

If you download the eReader to either your Iphone or PC, B&N offers a bonus of six FREE ebooks:  you will be happy to know of the titles offered,  Austen authored two of them! ~ The Last of the Mohicans, Sense and Sensibility, Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, Dracula, and a handy Pocket Dictionary ~ this little push for the classics is much appreciated! [but alas! please do not undermine my need to actually TOUCH MY BOOKS!]

Click Here for the Barnes & Noble website to take advantage of this offer:  select the download of your choice [Iphone / Ipod Touch, Blackberry, PC/MAC] on the right side of the screen …  and happy reading!

  1. I don’t think I could give up touching books; however, I recently was given a Kindle and do like it. And now that I have it, I can download almost all the classics free. Just for the record, it’s not the same as a real book.

  2. If you’ve got the iPhone, you just need to get Stanza, the free application for books. Lots of titles to download free… yes including our dear Jane’s works. BTW, glad to see P & P being ranked #9 in the recent Newsweek Meta-list of Top 100 Books Ever Written!

  3. Hi Arti, thanks for this info! – I will be getting an iphone in the next month or so [our provider was bought out by AT&T and need to switch – I have been avoiding yet another technology change!] – there are so many ebooks out there, no reason to purchase ANY of them, especially if your local library has such access, but who can keep up! I just posted about this B&N news because I was thrilled to see the offer of P&P AND S&S – there is hope in the world! [and kudos to Newsweek as well…!]

    Thanks for visiting Arti,
